Copper Comma (“Copper Comma,” “we,” “us”) is a learning design studio run by Carla D. Vaisman, M.Ed. This policy explains what information we collect through coppercomma.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
When you contact us: your name, email address, organization (if you share it), and anything you write in your message.
When you buy a resource: your name, email address, billing details, and order history. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
When you sign up for our newsletter or a free download: your first name and email address.
When you email us directly: whatever you include in your email.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by Squarespace. Like most websites, it automatically records basic technical information, such as your browser type, device, pages visited, the site that referred you, and an approximate location based on your IP address. Squarespace uses cookies to keep the site working (for example, your shopping cart) and to give us summary statistics about visits. You can see which cookies are used, and decline non-essential ones, through the cookie banner.
Some interactive activities on this site are hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may record basic technical information when those activities load. Some activities save your progress or drafts in your own browser’s storage, on your device. That information is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the banner when you first visit.
How we use information
To reply to your questions and plan projects, workshops, or speaking engagements
To process orders, deliver downloads, and provide customer support
To understand how the site is used and improve it
To keep records required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes
To send our newsletter, if you signed up for it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be removed.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We will only add you to an email list if you choose to join one.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the business: Squarespace (website, forms, store, newsletters, and invoicing), Stripe (payments), HostGator (email), and GitHub (activity hosting). Each handles information under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and project correspondence for as long as they are useful for our working relationship, and order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, generally up to seven years.
Your choices
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, subject to records we must keep by law. Email hello@coppercomma.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
This website is intended for educators and professionals. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Our resources are designed to be used without collecting any student information, so please don't send us student names, photos, or records.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will change the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
